Subsidy up to €400,000 for purchasing and installing energy storage systems (batteries) for businesses

Applications have opened for the “Energy Storage Systems in Businesses” program, offering subsidies up to €400,000 for purchasing and installing energy storage systems (batteries) for existing businesses.

A total of €153,740,000 is allocated to enhance the energy efficiency of businesses nationwide through battery installation.

Eligible businesses include all existing small, medium, and large enterprises in Greece, possessing a Greek tax ID and operating in nearly all sectors of the economy.

Maximum Subsidy Amount per Investment Plan

• Up to €400,000 per business.

Subsidy Rates

• 50% for small businesses
• 40% for medium businesses
• 30% for large businesses

Applications close on February 28, 2025

Eligible Expenses

1. Equipment Expenses
   • Purchase and installation of storage systems and accessories (panels, cables, smart meters, etc.).
     • For batteries with 1-hour capacity: €400,000/MWh maximum.
     • For batteries with 1-2 hours capacity: €350,000/MWh maximum.
   • Energy Management System equipment/software for efficient production/storage: €40,000 per application maximum.
2. Service Expenses
   • System study/design fee: Up to 3% of budget, max €5,000/MWh, and €20,000 per photovoltaic system.
   • Project management consultancy fee: €15,000 maximum.
   • Connection costs to grid operators: Up to €15,000 per application.

Participation Conditions

• Business establishment by June 30, 2024.
• Eligible if no construction for photovoltaic/storage has begun or if a photovoltaic system is installed without storage, with plans to add storage.
• Legal ownership or use rights of the installation site.

Excluded: Businesses primarily engaged in renewable energy production.

Applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted.
